How does this work?

Cosmetic Labs Canada is a Canadian based private label manufacturing facility that allows you to brand your own beauty products in just a few clicks. 

We recommend trying samples before you commit to products! We want you to love the product you’ll be selling.  

Once you’ve sampled your selected products you can select the products you would like to sell, choose your packaging and any fragrance if available.

Looking for label options?

For label design you have three options:

  • Use one of our pre-designed templates for $199.99. Use on unlimited products for life. Our designers will change the colour to match your brand perfectly!
  • Have one of our designers create a custom label for your products. Cost will vary depending on the number of products and complexity of the design. The design fees are a one-time charge for all of your products on this order and on future orders – unless you decide to modify your designs.
  • Alternatively you can supply us with your own designs. Label templates will be provided once your order has been approved.

General Information

What are your order minimums? How many units can your facility accommodate?

Our facilities can accommodate orders as small as, 6 units per product. We do not have any restrictions on maximum order sizes however; lead times may vary depending on quantity. There is no minimum for bulk purchases.

How much does starting my own beauty brand cost? What is the minimum order quantity?

There is no start up cost! All sales are one-time purchases. You can start out by ordering a sample or trial pack of the products you’d like to try before selling.

Our minimum order quantity is 6 units per formula. Unit pricing varies, depending on your quantity. Individual pricing is listed on each product’s page.

What is the difference between bulk and retail orders?

Bulk products are purchased in 32oz, 1 gallon or 5-gallon generic plastic containers. They are generally used for back bar or filling your own orders. Retail size orders are custom packaged and labeled per your requirements.

What are your lead times for private label products?

Our typical lead times are 15-20 business days for new orders upon order approval and receipt of deposit. This may vary depending on the time of year, product and packaging availability. If we can fulfill an order sooner we will.

Can you help me with Health Canada and FDA registration?

Yes. We charge $35.00 per product for this service.

Can you cancel an order?

Orders may not be canceled after order approval.

If you don’t carry the packaging I want will you source it?

If our packaging options do not meet your requirements, you are more than welcome to supply us with the packaging of your choice (Minimum order quantity of 100 pieces). Please request Cosmetic Labs Canada’s Shipping and Receiving information from your sales representative.

Paying For Your Order

PAYMENT TERMS, TYPES OF PAYMENTS & FEE’S 

TERMS:

Cosmetic Labs Canada strives at providing the best pricing for your private label brand. We want to keep our customer cost’s as low as possible and you shouldn’t pay more because someone else did not pay for their order. In order to confirm your order, it must be paid in full prior to the design stage.

* if choosing to pay with this method, your order will be processed as a temporary hold if over $1000 CND We will contact you directly if choosing this payment option (Note: processing fee will be charged). If your order is under $999.99 including HST your credit card will be immediately processed.

How can I order samples?

Please visit our online sample page here.

What are the sample sizes for private label products?

Samples vary from ½ oz, 1 oz, 2 oz and up depending on the product chosen.

When can I expect my sample order?

Please allow 3-4 business days for the sample department to complete your order. Upon shipping, you will be emailed a copy of your paid invoice along with the tracking number.

Your sample website is not working.

Are your product formulas vegan, natural, etc?

At CLC we are proud to be cruelty-free.

Our chemists leverage science, expertise and nature to deliver the most potent formulations in the beauty industry. Comprised of the highest quality ingredients sourced from around the world, our clinical-grade formulas are safe and effective.

Many of our products are paraben-free, sulphate-free, SLS free and vegan. All of our products are cruelty free, we never test on animals. Our products are made with natural and organic ingredients.

Each product listed under the “Our products” in the main menu have a full list of ingredients for you to cross-check. 

What Packaging options do you offer?

Bath & Body

Choose between: Clear with White Tops or white with black tops. Our bath and body products are recyclable plastic.

Face

Clear plastic with Silver & White Tops. 

Hair

White Plastic Bottles with black lids. 

Essential Oils

Our essential oil bottles are amber glass & black tops. 

Men

Amber bottles with black tops.

If you don’t carry the fragrance/essential oil I want will you source it?

No, we will not source this for you but you can supply it to us. Please request CLC Shipping and Receiving information from your sales representative.

Can you add or remove an ingredient from your stock products?

To begin custom product development, our R&D fee starts at $1800 CAD with a minimum order quantity of 20 gallons per formula, depending on the product’s batch sizes, fill quantities and raw materials. This requires a lead time of about 3-5 weeks from the date of confirmed changes.

Do you do custom blends?

Yes. Starting prices are $675.00 and costs may go up depending on ingredients and testing requirements. For every order you place, there will be an 8-12 week lead time and a 25-gallon minimum purchase. Please contact a Sales Representative at [email protected] [email protected] for details.

Design & Labels

Can you help me with Logo and Label Design?

We certainly can. We have several Graphic Designers on staff. We charge $300.00 for logo design.

For label design you have three options:

  • Use one of our pre-designed templates for $199.99. Use on unlimited products for life. Our designers will change the colour to match your brand perfectly!
  • Have one of our designers create a custom label for your products. Cost will vary depending on the number of products and complexity of the design. The design fees are a one-time charge for all of your products on this order and on future orders – unless you decide to modify your designs.
  • Alternatively you can supply us with your own designs. Label templates will be provided once your order has been approved.

What art-files create the best label design?

At Cosmetic Labs Canada, we know everyone creates in different ways. That’s why we accept a variety of file formats: For logos, we recommend .PNGs with transparent backgrounds or a packaged Adobe Illustrator file, but we also accept .JPEGs and .SVGs.

For images, please send us high-resolution images. For completed label designs, please send us .PDFs with any fonts used on your labels and embed any images. We also accept packaged .Ai files. (If using any Adobe programs, do not outline paragraphed text.)

What types of in house labels are available?

We provide 100% polyester water resistant labels on a 4 color printing process. Our labels are available in two finishes: Matte and High Gloss. If you have specialty label design, such as metallic ink, clear or foil, etc. we can provide you with a quote from an outside printer.

Do you provide individual product boxes?

As we are not box printers, we work with several suppliers and can provide you with a quote.

Do you do 3D rendering and/or professional photography?

We do professionally Photoshopped images that start at $25.00 per photo. We do offer digital rendering services on some products. Please contact a Sales Representative at [email protected] for more information.

What information required on the label? What is compliance?

We go to the highest measures to ensure your products and their labels meet all requirements and regulations. 

When it comes to the label or product descriptions, we (Cosmetic Labs Canada or our customers) cannot claim that the product/formula makes a physical change to the skin, hair or body or affects the structure or function of skin, hair or body (this would be a drug claim). We can only claim that it changes the appearance of the skin and that products are for cleansing, beautifying, promoting attractiveness, or altering the appearance (since these are cosmetic claims).

Custom Cosmetic Formulation

Custom Formula vs Modified Formula

The launch of a cosmetic brand can be a costly undertaking, and advertising plays a pivotal role in ensuring its success. Therefore, we advise allocating 50% of your capital towards your product launch. At CLC, we believe in empowering brand owners by providing them with the knowledge they need to develop a reputable and profitable brand. Our consultant will discuss this in detail with you during the phone consultation for all formula modifications and custom formulas.

What does it cost to modify a formula?

At CLC, we typically advise our clients to leverage our stock formula and make necessary modifications. Doing so enables you to take advantage of our clinically tested formulas and add 1-2 ingredients to personalize the product. It’s important to note that while you will have a unique product, you will not own the rights to the formula. The cost of incorporating each ingredient typically amounts to around $99, plus the cost of the ingredient itself, and is in addition to the consultation fee of $125.00. We have access to a wide range of ingredients, but we may recommend that you source specific ingredients and send them to us to minimize costs.

How much does a custom formula cost?

Developing custom formulas is a process that requires significant time and effort. It can take several weeks to months to create, as it involves third-party real-time or accelerated stability tests and shelf life tests for ingredient compatibility.

Our fees for R&D services vary depending on the type of product:

  • Cosmetics (Non-Regulated): $1,500 – $2,999.99
  • NNHP (NPN) Product Design & Registration: $2,999 – $4,999.99

Our R&D fees provide comprehensive access to our team of chemists, procurement specialists, and project managers. The service includes feasibility studies, preservative challenge testing, stability assessments, and PH and component compatibility to ensure your product’s optimal success in the market.

We create new formulas for finished cosmetic products based on your specific requirements, including theoretical work and production of samples. We can also create formulas based on an existing benchmark product, although we do not perform full reverse engineering. Pricing depends on the complexity and time requirements for creating the formula. Once you complete the form below, we will provide you with a detailed price quote.

What kind of products will you customize?

Our product offerings include a wide range of skin care items, such as creams, lotions, masks, shower gels, hand sanitizers (NPN approved), butters, cleansers, toners, and scrubs/peels. Additionally, we offer hair care products, including shampoos, conditioners, and hair styling products like hair gels and pomades.

Our selection also includes home products, such as reed diffuser oils, fragrance bases, and essential oil blends and customizations. For outdoor enthusiasts, we offer insect relief products (excluding pest control products).

We are proud to offer NPN approved products that contain Health Canada site-licensed ingredients, including sunscreen.

Are there products you do not manufacture?

Yes, Cosmetic Labs Canada does not manufacture makeup, oral care products, hair dyes, or any products that involve the use of gases, such as hair styling sprays and other aerosols.

Yes! We offer professional web-ready photos of your products. We make it easy to get professional-level product photos of your new product line.

Do you offer website design/ ecommerce solutions?

Cosmetic Labs Canada offers comprehensive solutions when it comes to website design and development. Our capabilities include site architecture and wireframes building, visual designing and layouts, web development and coding, content writing services, testing and review, and site maintenance with regular monitoring and updating. Anything you need for your website, we will get it done with on-time delivery. Our development teams work in sync with your goals and can deliver different types of websites and features ranging from simple, static websites to dynamic websites with rich multimedia content and enterprise solutions or portals.

Do you design stationery and promotional products? (i.e. Business Cards, Letter Head, Banners, etc)

Yes, stationery design can be provided at an additional fee. We offer everything from letterheads, business cards, postcards, banners and other specialized marketing material you may require.

About your order account

How long does it take to receive my order?

We pride ourselves not only on quality and support but also on efficiency. Our lead time is one of the fastest in the industry. Once we receive your approval & Confirmation of Label Design, you can expect your order to ship in 15 business days. This time is not guaranteed, but we strive to get the order’s out as efficient as possible. 

What is your payment, refund, return & cancellation policy?

CLC ARRANGED SHIPPING

    • CLC will use the best-calculated shipping rate for all order’s which will be calculated once the order is processed. Shipping fees will be calculated based on actual freight wt & Dimensions (Dimensional Wt).  We use the best quoted rate with UPS, PUROLATOR or DHL with domestic & International orders. 
    • Customs & Duty
      • Our cosmetics are Manufactured in Canada and are exempt from USA/ Mexico Duty. 
      • Shipping to USA or Mexico will be charged a broker &  State/ Provincial Tax.  The broker fee’s are typically minimal fee to clear your items with Custom’s. 
      • International Orders  may be Duty Free, please consult with a broker depending on the destination. 

CUSTOMER ARRANGED SHIPPING 

    • If a customer chooses to provide shipping labels, the customer must insure that the goods are shipped as Fragile & Liquids. The customer is responsible for all damages obtained and to put an order in with their carrier’s insurance if required. We are not responsible for 3rd Party shipping claims.
